ALL ABOUT TELEHEALTH

At Tell Me More Speech Pathology, we offer telehealth services to ensure that individuals of all ages can access high-quality speech pathology services, no matter where they are in Australia.

Telehealth allows clients to engage in therapy from the comfort of their own home, school, or workplace through secure video conferencing.

Our team is experienced in delivering telehealth sessions for children as young as 3 years old through to adults, supporting a wide range of communication and swallowing/mealtime goals.

Who can benefit from telehealth?

Telehealth is a great option for:

  • Clients who live remotely or have limited access to local speech pathology services.
  • Busy families and individuals who need a flexible and convenient therapy option.
  • Those who feel more comfortable receiving therapy in their home environment without a face-to-face clinician.
  • NDIS participants who require ongoing therapy but prefer a virtual service.
  • Anyone needing support for communication or swallowing/mealtime safety from a trusted clinician.

How does telehealth work?

Who can benefit from telehealth?

We use a secure and reliable video conferencing platform, to deliver telehealth sessions.

  • Preferred devices: iPad, laptop, or computer.
  • Teleconferencing links are sent the day prior to your appointment to ensure a seamless connection.
  • Sessions are interactive and engaging, using screen-sharing, visual supports, and real-time coaching for clients and caregivers.
  • Therapy sessions are tailored to each individual’s goals, just like in face-to-face sessions.

All areas of speech pathology can be supported via telehealth.

To get the most out of your session, please ensure you have:

  • A stable internet connection for smooth video and audio.
  • A laptop, iPad, or computer.
  • A quiet space with minimal distractions.
  • Access to your appointment link, which will be sent the day prior to your appointment.
  • Any materials or resources provided before the session.

Is telehealth effective?

How do I get started with telehealth?

What do I need for a telehealth session?

Absolutely! Research supports telehealth as an effective way to deliver speech pathology services, with outcomes comparable to face-to-face therapy. Our clinicians are skilled in engaging young children, teenagers, and adults via telehealth, making sessions interactive, meaningful, and goal-focused.

For younger children, therapy may involve caregiver coaching, where parents are guided on how to support their child’s communication at home.

For adults, telehealth is ideal for speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing therapy, with practical strategies that can be implemented immediately in daily life.

Supervision & Support for Telehealth Sessions in External Locations

For children receiving telehealth therapy at external settings (e.g., school, daycare, disability support programs), an adult must be available to:

  • Setting up the device in a quiet environment.
  • Logging into Zoom and ensuring video/audio is working.
  • Being accessible throughout the session in case any difficulties arise.

The assisting adult is not required to remain present for the duration of the appointment, unless this is preferred by the parent/caregiver. However, they should be available nearby if needed.

For adult clients, support may also be required depending on individual needs. This could include:

  • Assistance with technology setup or logging into the session.
  • Support from a carer, family member, or support worker for communication or participation if necessary.
  • Ensuring a quiet and private space is available for the session.

If additional support is needed, we encourage clients to discuss arrangements in advance to ensure sessions run smoothly.

Contact us if you have any questions about telehealth services!
