Building Everyday Skills

Regular practice helps children build on the skills they’re learning in speech pathology and use them in everyday life.

Guided by Your Therapist

Your child’s speech pathologist develops their therapy plan, provides ongoing supervision and reviews progress along the way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At Tell Me More Speech Pathology, our Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) are speech pathology students who deliver therapy sessions under the guidance and supervision of a qualified speech pathologist. They follow your child’s individualised therapy plan, using activities tailored to their goals, needs and interests.

Your speech pathologist completes assessments, develops goals with your family and writes the therapy plan. Your AHA implements that plan and shares observations about your child’s participation and progress with your treating speech pathologist. AHAs do not independently assess, diagnose or make clinical decisions.

Absolutely. We’ll agree on a frequency for speech pathology check-in sessions following blocks of AHA appointments. During these sessions, your speech pathologist will review progress, re-evaluate goals and update the therapy plan. Earlier reviews can be arranged if needs change.

Depending on your child’s therapy plan, appointments may include speech sound practice, early communication, language development, literacy, social communication or using communication tools such as AAC. Activities are tailored to your child’s goals and interests.

AHA appointments may suit children who would benefit from regular, supported practice towards established therapy goals. Your speech pathologist will consider your child’s needs and discuss suitability with your family.

Of course! We’ll start with a speech pathology assessment with a qualified clinician to understand your child’s strengths and needs, develop goals with your family and determine whether AHA appointments would be suitable.

Appointments may be available at our Kogarah clinic room, at your home, in education settings or via telehealth, depending on suitability and team availability. Contact us to discuss options for your family.

AHA appointments have a lower fee than speech pathology appointments. Visit our Fees & Funding page for more information, or contact us to discuss this further. Before you begin, we’ll explain the costs involved, including therapy planning, speech pathology reviews and any applicable travel.

Complete our enquiry form or message us. We’ll discuss your child’s needs, answer your questions and explain the next steps.
